In order to continue operating in the long-term, Entrecard has made some significant changes.

1. Buy credits for less: Entrecard is now selling 1,000 credits for $6.00.

2. More pricing increments: Instead of prices doubling every time, there are now a few more steps. The new price points can be found on the Advertising page in the wiki.

3. Members are not allowed to sell credits: This goes for ebay sales, posts in the Marketing forum, and posts on other forums. If you have references on your site to the sale of credits, please remove them immediately, as it is now against our terms.

4. Credit transfer limits: Members are allowed to make a maximum of 14 credit transfers a week, up to a maximum of 1,000 credits, whichever comes first. This means you can still run contests where you give credits away for free, and under 1k per week. Note: This does not affect linked blogs, you can transfer unlimited credits between linked blogs.

5. Transfer tax: From now on, all transfers, including transfers made with our new payments API, will be taxed at a rate of 12.5%. The taxed credits will be sold to members (see #1).

6. Blogs cannot be unlinked: Once you link a blog, it’s there for good unless you ask us to delete the blog from your account. This prevents linking/unlinking to get around the credit transfer limits, and it also stops you losing access to a blog if you unlink it in error, which happens a lot.

7. No more coupons: You are no longer allowed to send coupons.

8. Shop closed: Except for Entrecard upgrades (Featured Status, Fast Pass) the Entrecard Shop is now offline until further notice. Please do not request a seller token until the shop returns. When it comes back, it will be bigger and better. We’ll communicate more details nearer the time.

Strategies 1 : Believe you can and stay positive!

Problems with recession talk is that once people believe there is going to be a recession they start to feel negative about their business and prospects. They tend to see what they believe rather than believing what they see. Once you believe a thing you tend to only notice statistics that support your beliefs. Your negative beliefs quickly affect your outlook and the way that you feel.

If you thought this year was going to be a great year for business, your best year yet; how would you feel? Conversely, if you thought this year was going to see a major recession and that it was going to hit you and your business hard; how would you feel?

Remember, nothing's changed here other than your belief. Having a positive and supportive belief structure is essential if you want to succeed in any market but it is vitally essential if you want to keep on selling in a tough one.

Understand that clients want to partner with the best companies. Businesses that they can rely on, support them, and who are going to be around tomorrow. If your competitors struggle, that means more sales and more business for you.

If your competitors are easing off, it is the time to up the anti and grab your share of the market.

Strategies 3 : Sharpen your sales skills

If a workman needs a spade and a farmer needs a horse; a boxer needs a defence and a chef needs a recipe; what do salespeople need? The answer's obvious - it's sales skills. Most salespeople do not spend enough time working on improving their sales skills and techniques. Sales training and development is not something that many salespeople spend their time on out of choice. Perhaps they can get away with this in a booming market when sales are easy.

But things will always change if the market tightens. Sales success will go to the salesperson who really understands why people buy and can help people make the right business decisions. Salespeople of this calibre stand to benefit from possible changes ahead because there will be more business for them as their competition falls by the wayside. Sales will not go to the journeyman salesperson, the mediocre wannabee or the 9-5 order taker. Salespeople like these could well be in for a rough time. When did you last read a sales training book on selling? How many sales training audios have you listened to over the last month? How many sales training seminars have you atteneded in the last 6 months?

Strategies 4 : Improve your service and focus on relationships

Many companies are working out how to cut corners. They will try to save money by tinkering with their business offerings. They will try and seek extra profits out of their clients by cutting the bells and whistles from their offerings. If business is tight you want to be wowing your clients with the best service that they have ever had, from you or from any of your competitors.

Go the extra mile. If a recession bites many companies will try and discount to survive. They probably won't (survive), but you don't want your clients going to them as they try to keep their heads above water! You need to "lock in" your existing clients now so that they won't even think about going anywhere else.

Spend time with your clients. Build stronger relationships with your clients. Make sure you truly understand them, their concerns and their businesses. Find ways to help them and add value over and above what they could have ever expected.

Strategies 5 : Leverage your efforts

In a soft market many salespeople only chase the easy stuff. They don't chase the tough stuff. They're doing ok, they don't have to. They're making sales right? Wrong. Most salespeople have all sorts of opportunities which they squander every day and every month because there are seemingly easier things that they can be doing.

This is particularly true where leads have been relatively easy to come by, where sales targets are relatively soft or where salespeople are overpaid so don't crave the business. In a tough market you must leverage all of your efforts.

This is basic sales 101 and should be stuff that you do every day anyway... Here are just a few ideas. Always ask for referrals. Referrals are great business but most salespeople do not ask for them because clients often say no. Learn how to ask for a referral properly and then build asking for a referral into your sales process and ask for one every time. Upsell and cross-sell. Whether though laziness, lack of knowledge or lack of ability many salespeople sit on accounts where there is so much more business than they are currently leveraging.

Extending your business with existing clients will not only make you more money, it will also strengthen your relationships with and value to them and their businesses. Contact dormant accounts. Most companies have hundreds if not thousands of "dormant" accounts. There may be multiple reasons for this from changing business practises to fall-outs with the client. Dormant clients may well be redeemable and may have been "lost" purely because someone forgot to ring them or a salesperson moved on. Get in touch with them! Follow up on all leads.

Politicians today behave as if their supporters , aides, advisors, family, and confidants are leverage and is dispensable, but they're not. Politics can be a cold, cruel, and unforgiving profession, and it can often be more hazardous to their supporters.
The Democratic and Republican Presidential nominees may discover that he or she while campaing for office office; get sick more; they are much more likely to be the victims and perpetrators of coercion; more likely to commit political suicide; more likely buy good news, to lose touch, painfully with there supporters. Why? Well--lots of reasons, but let me just explore a few that are intertwined with political history and culture.

George Bush Jr. and Bill Clinton, became president through controversy. George Bush Jr might been judged clinically insane in the future because of his stand on the Iraq war. Bill Clinton had to go ever onward as he saw his presidency blown, literally, to pieces. They both learned, as a matter of survival, that inner turmoil must be suppressed and denied. It worked in war. But not in peace. The great political question that I and millions like me faced, is: 'Can you be the president without controversy?'

Any president whose presidency goes through radical change experience severe stress. Within a generation, presidents have gone from having to be the macho to the sensitive, emotionally open home-lover. One of the most important psychological political questions we humans need to answer is, 'What characteristic makes a good president?' When the world keeps changing its mind on what the president should be like, the answer can become confused, costly, and your mental health can get shaky.
It's decision time: kill, or be killed...

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's campaigns are being shot down by controversy like When the Titanic went down with too few lifeboats; the cry went up, 'Women and children off first!' Of course it did--it is the cry of our whole culture.

The Reverent Jeremiah Wright, Jr., Obama's long-time spiritual adviser, is only the latest victim. Because of stress he recently resigned from Obama's African American Religious Leadership Committee over controversies about the nature of his sermons. Obama's fiery contention that he can embrace the man while rejecting his opinions has done little to quell questions about Obama's deep-down opinions on racial issues.

Clinton's campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle stepped down after Obama swept primaries in Nebraska, Washington State, Louisiana, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Several days later, Clinton's deputy campaign manager Mike Henry also resigned ahead of Obama's projected win in Virginia. Like Doyle, he took one for the team so that Clinton could make "the necessary adjustments to achieve the winning outcome" she sought.

When wars are fought, we send citizens--young men and women--to fight and die. Soldiers have been deemed, for millennia, more dispensable.

But polictical consultants, supporters, aides, advisors, family, and confidants have internalized this sense of dispensability in devastating ways. They behave as if they don't matter. they take terrible risks, they smoke, drink and engage in dark sexual exploits more. They don't protect themselves from the media, they talk without thinking, they work too hard and get too stressed and ignore the nagging depression and anxiety that most of us live with. Then, when they can ignore it no longer, too many of them have to resign.
